How do grooming products affect the health of my dog?

Many of you may wonder how grooming products may affect the overall health of your dog?

Just like the human body, our dog's body is a complex machinery that works as a unified system to keep it safe from harmful substances.  These harmful substances may enter the body in various formats, such as what our dogs eat on a daily basis, what we apply on their bodies, what they inhale from the products used on them and the environmental factors.

The skin is the largest organ in the body and it absorbs everything that is applied on it.  Products that are absorbed regularly by your dog's skin include shampoo, conditioner, hydrating balm for the nose, paws and dry skin patches, refreshing spritz for the fur, as well as bug spray, just to name a few.

The liver plays an important role when it comes to health.  The liver is a powerhouse that is overlooked and can be described as a true hidden gem.  It does all the primary work to keep the body safe.  The liver acts as a filter and breaks down toxins to provide a clean blood supply for body's nourishment.

When we use grooming products that contain synthetic chemical, toxins, artificial fragrances and colours, all the ingredients get absorbed by the skin and enter the blood stream and pass through the liver to get processed.  When the liver is over-worked from high loads of toxins over time, it is unable to process all the toxins, which in turn stay in the body and manifest into chronic diseases, such as skin conditions, allergies, diabetes, liver disease, and cancer.

This is why it is extremely important to keep the overall toxic load of the body as low as possible through various aspects, such as diet and pet care products so the liver can function normally and continue to keep the body healthy and thriving.
